In certain fire safety circumstances, a building manager may be required by the Fire Department to provide a fire watch until a malfunctioning fire suppression system is repaired. The personnel to conduct the fire watch are selected by the building owner, and should be professionals trained to conduct the regular patrols and record-keeping required. While professional private security guards are not required, you get the added benefit of protective security services. SRC provides just that.

Providing qualified, trained officers has always been SRC Private Security’s first priority. Over 90% of our officers have previous security, law enforcement or military experience. We employ a comprehensive pre-employment screening process including checking references, previous employment history and criminal background. We also perform an illicit drug test and a DMV check for anyone who may be asked to drive a company vehicle.
All pre-assignment training is conducted in-house by or at the direction of one of our state-certified trainers, and the training consists of two phases. The classroom phase includes a comprehensive review of SRC’s policy manual and handbook, as well as lectures and multimedia presentations. The trainee must achieve a passing score on the private security guards pre-assignment exam before moving on to field training. Our field training consists of shadowing one of our seasoned officers in his or her regular duties until the trainer is confident the trainee is ready to perform well on his or her own. Once all training is completed, the new hire will be licensed and assigned based on background and prior training.
SRC trains and tests all officers with regular modules covering a wide range of security and safety-related issues. Officers are encouraged and often required to take CPR and first aid training, pepper spray training, and other courses. Many also train or have received training in various forms of self-defense.
